The “Motor Vehicles (Driving Licences) (New Drivers) Bill” will propose restrictions on what new drivers can do in the first 6 months after passing their driving tests:
A large number of accidents involve new drivers, and Parliament will consider restrictions on the number of passengers new drivers can carry, and on night-time driving, and even on engine sizes, at least for the first 6 months.
These will be “graduated licences” so that restrictions are only released after a careful first 6 months.
