Don't touch that mobile phone!

We all know (or we ought to know!...) that it illegal to use a hand-held mobile phone to make a phone call or send a text while driving.

However, there was a loophole… You could – until recently – use your hand held phone to scroll through play lists, or take photos, or even play games. But no longer:

Now, all mobile phones must be held in a cradle or clamp (e.g. on the dashboard) and may not be touched for any reason except using your Sat Nav… even if you are stationary in traffic or at a red light!

If you’re caught doing so, the penalties are a £200 fine and 6 points on your licence.

If you’re taken to court, you the fine goes up to £1,000 and you could be disqualified from driving!

And if you’re a new driver who only passed your test within the last 2 years, you’ll will lose your licence! Moreover, your insurance premiums will almost certainly rise!

I have been representing drivers in Court on motoring matters for many years, be it excess alcohol, a failure to renew insurance in time, speeding points…. 12 points, facing disqualification… with great success.
